Kuala Lumpur, Aug 19 – A 51-year-old man is currently being held by police for allegedly spreading false and inflammatory information regarding the death of Zara Qairina Nizal Yusof, a 17-year-old student. The man was remanded from August 19th to 21st to facilitate investigations into his alleged actions on TikTok.

The case has drawn significant public attention following the tragic passing of Zara Qairina, who was found unconscious at her boarding school in Pengkalan Chepa, Kelantan, on August 17th. Initial investigations suggested she may have suffered a stroke, but a subsequent TikTok video posted by the now-detained man sparked widespread speculation that her death was the result of foul play, specifically murder.

This video, which quickly went viral, contained unsubstantiated claims and fuelled intense online discussion, causing considerable distress to Zara Qairina’s family and friends. Police have been quick to condemn the spread of false information and to reassure the public that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of Zara Qairina’s death.
